2023-09-252023-09-25 公告與新聞稿

The Taiwan FactCheck Center (TFC) Chairman, Shih-Hung Lo, has called upon Taiwan media outlets to take on a more proactive role and foster collaboration to combat disinformation in preparation for the upcoming 2024 Taiwan presidential elections.

Lo made the announcement during a tea gathering on September 22, which was hosted by TFC to attended by more than twenty senior executives from various media sectors in Taiwan, including online, print, television, and magazines.

The initiative is part of  TFC’s preparation for the forthcoming Taiwan presidential election. TFC has outlined several initiatives aimed at providing voters with high-quality, reliable information, including hosting election disinformation workshops and fact-checking residential candidates' policy statements and debates.

In recognition of the growing threat of AI-generated disinformation, TFC is currently developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for verifying potential AI-generated content, and compiling an AI verification toolkit alongside other resources, including technical experts who can assist media outlets in navigating the challenges associated with potential AI-generated content.

Summer Chen, TFC's Editor-in-Chief, emphasized that AI technology is continuously evolving, and it is foreseeable that AI will be increasingly used in disinformation operations. She urged news media professionals to take proactive steps to prepare for the challenge.

Prominent media outlets represented at the event included Taiwan Plus, Central News Agency (CNA), ETtoday, Public Television Service (PTS), CommonWealth Magazine, TVBS, READr, Radio Taiwan International (RTI), The Reporter, and Liberty Times, among others.
